A PPP (Public Private Partnership) mixed-use urban regeneration of a former local authority housing scheme. The completed development has created a new urban quarter that re-integrates the area into the fabric of the city

A wide range of residential tenures – social, affordable, private rented and owner-occupied – fosters a cohesive social mix

‘Over the shop’ apartments, with main entrances from the street, ensure that the street is continuously animated at ground floor level, while residents enjoy private space accessed from raised courtyards

The development reopens previously closed circulation routes, extends roads through the site and provides a new public space as a focus for the wider community

New leisure amenities include a community centre and crèche, leisure centre and an all-weather football pitch, several children’s play areas and hard and soft landscaping

All council tenants remained on site throughout the rebuilding, protecting the existing community and its social structure

Space standards, including storage space and private open space, are generous throughout
