Graduating from Glasgow School of Art's Mackintosh School of Architecture, James won a number of awards and competitions, including the Scottish Universities collaborative design competition 'Interact'. During his thesis year he exhibited work at the RIBA's Urban Futures Exhibition in London. James started his professional career with Grimshaw and Make architects in London before joining Aedas (Now AHR), working on education, workplace and urban residential projects in the UK and abroad. As a member of the Design Focus Group, he travelled between offices attending sector key workshops and focus groups aiming to deliver best practice in design, BIM and project delivery.
