BRUNEL BUILDING

Facts

A new office building located within Reddy Architecture’s master planned Heuston South Quarter development, part of a building block which also includes 75 apartments and retail outlets

Floor area:
9,000 m² (96,875 ft²)

Nett to gross ratio:
 79%

Features

The building’s location, on a new public route to the adjoining Museum of Modern Art, facing onto the formal gardens of the Museum and fronting a new public square, inspired the concept of the building’s corner as ‘art object’

The building is clad in a ‘glazed scales’ double skin façade to the west and south, restrained by stainless steel arching columns which sweep the eye upward and belie its 13 storeys. External solar shading is provided by aluminium roller blinds in a ventilated void

The Brunel building houses the largest biomass boiler in Ireland, providing heat and hot water to the office building. Off-site construction speeded construction and improved quality
