The development at Mill Street is a mixed-use professionally managed student housing development of 410 rooms in Dublin’s Liberties. The development is a key part of the long term regeneration of the area and it includes retail, restaurant, event and social spaces, a gym and laundry. Part of the challenge of the development was the incorporation of a protected structure at No. 10 Mill Street which was restored as part of the project.
The development includes the creation of Huguenot Square, a significant new public space at its heart. The development will contribute to the regeneration of the Newmarket area. In particular the active use of the new ground floor units on Mill Street will help enliven the neighbourhood. The refurbishment involves the opening to the public of the protected structure at 10 Mill Street and adjoining former school building, and removal of derelict industrial buildings. The development provides a new permeability to the area and access to the seventeenth century boundary wall of Warrenmount Convent.
