Point Campus Fitout, Student Housing, Dublin
Reddy A+U were commissioned to fit out of the amenity spaces of a state of the art, 966 bedroom student accommodation project comprising of two buildings, with each offering its students equal facilities. The brief was to examine the requirements of the modern student and apply them to a space that facilitates the key aspects of their daily lives including study, technology, social interaction, recreation as well as health and fitness.
The theme of the project is “Home from Home”. Our objective was to create a space that encouraged a sense of community and interaction amongst the students while also facilitating the need for quiet spaces and study zones.
The main hub of both buildings is in the main reception areas which feature gaming areas, TVs, gaming pods, a feature food truck, group seating as well as small breakout spaces. The open plan layout allows for the opportunity to hold events as well as everyday use. Connected to these areas are smaller “Seating Huts” which provide quieter, more private spaces that small groups or individuals can use. A dedicated study zone in each building is separated from the main amenity areas to ensure low noise levels. Here students can avail of group study desks, individual study desks, group study “huts” with smart screens and private study rooms.
A sense of ownership was paramount when designing the amenity spaces, many areas are flexible and can be booked or used by the students in whatever way suits their needs. One of the buildings features the “Club Lounge” an area dedicated to events, Netflix viewing or quiet conversations depending on the students’ requirements. Each building has its own cinema room which can be booked by the students to show movies or presentations. Other facilities include a fitness studio for activities such as yoga, Pilates etc as well as a fully equipped gym.
