Hotel Submitted for planning in Cork

Reddy Architecture + Urbanism has submitted a planning application for this 171 bed 4 star Hotel on the site of the former Leisureplex located at the corner of Brian Boru Street and McCurtain Street in Cork. The site was the location of the former Coliseum Cinema built in 1913 and the Postal Sorting Office built in 1940. These were were later gutted and combined to form the Leisureplex bowling alley in the 1980s.

RA+U have worked with the client and city to create a scheme that reinvigorates this pivotal site at the junction of MacCurtain st, Brian Boru st, lower Glanmire Road, and Summerhill.

Following on from the offices successful planning application in 2018 for the upgrade and a new second hotel at the Metropole on MacCurtain Street, the office has designed this new hotel which will contribute greatly to the ever burgeoning urban redevelopment of this part of the Cork city, now known as the Victorian Quarter.
