Cork City Council has issued notification of its decision to grant planning permission for Reddy Architecture + Urbanism’s proposals for the re-furbishment, extension and redevelopment of the Metropole Hotel in Cork.
The €50 million project will bring the hotel to ‘4 star plus’ standard, with the addition of 140 bed-rooms and 43 suites to the 112 existing rooms, a function room and terrace at roof level, a garden court at lobby level and shop units to both the McCurtain Street and St. Patrick’s Quay frontages. A complementary hotel, the M Hotel, will be built alongside the Metropole and linked to it by glass bridges at roof and intermediate levels. Upon completion, the hotel complex, with 400 rooms and a floor area of more than 22,000 m², will be the largest hotel complex in Cork
