A design team consortium lead by Reddy Architecture + Urbanism Group (Ireland) and Payette (USA) was appointed by NUI Galway to a project for three separate research facilities.
The facilites comprise: A Clinical & Translational Research Facility (approx. 5,267 m²), a cancer research, Chem Bio and Bio resource laboratory building; (approx. 8,212m²) and a Humanities & Social Sciences Research Library (a 5,400m² next-generation extension to the James Hardiman Library).
The proposed CRF-TRF building is to be a collocated building providing hi-technology science and clinical research facilities with direct access to the University Hospital and Clinical Sciences Institute. It is a joint development of the National University of Ireland, Galway and the Health Service Executive (NUIG/HSE). Located within the grounds of the University College Hospital , Galway, the site is approximately 0.25 hectares in area and is located towards the southern boundary of the hospital campus.
