Planning application granted full permission by An Bord Pleanála for St. Kevin’s SHD project in Cork
Reddy Architecture + Urbanism are architects for a proposed Strategic Housing Development (SHD) on the grounds of the former St Kevin’s Hospital site in Shanakiel, Cork. The planning application submitted to An Bord Pleanála by the Land Development Agency (LDA) has just been granted full planning permission.
This is the first scheme that the LDA have submitted in the SHD process and is also the first scheme developed by them in Munster.
The proposed development, which is set to be over 24,000 sq m in size, will incorporate 266 residential units, a creche and an office enterprise centre.
New-build residential accommodation will include a mix of townhouses (46), duplex townhouses (54), duplex apartments (54) and walk-up apartments (52).
The former St Kevin’s Hospital itself is set to be stabilised, conserved and renovated to provide a further 60 apartments.
The former hospital will be renovated to house the creche, while the former chapel building will host the new Office Enterprise centre.
