Dominick Street Fitout, Dublin
Dominick Street student housing comprises of two buildings with a total of 351-bedrooms, generous communal amenity spaces and an integrated cafe. The development is a major contributor to the development of the area which is being fuelled by the proximity to the city centre and the new DIT campus transport links including the Luas.
Reddy A+U were tasked with creating dynamic spaces that combined opportunities for students to integrate and socialise in multifunctional spaces that can also cater for events. At the same time the spaces needed to create comfortable spaces for students who wish to be in a social environment while still benefiting from a sense of privacy. These included individual study and gaming areas, seating areas suitable for students to use their laptops, read a book or group study as well as other functions.
The majority of the scheme’s amenity space is located within the main building. It features an integrated reception and café space which is directly accessible from the street while benefitting from secure access directly from the accommodation. A games room/social area provides individual gaming pods, TV, an Air hockey game, a tea station and break out seating. The study room offers individual study pods, group study booths and an individual study desk. Other amenity spaces available to the students include a cinema room and fully equipped gym. The ancillary building features another games room/social area equipped with tea station, flexible breakout seating and a TV room.
