Fern Dean Nursing Home, Dublin
Reddy A+U have developed the extension to the existing operational nursing home. The extension comprises 29 bedrooms, new dining and sitting areas and the refurbishment of existing day room accommodation. The award winning scheme creates a new benchmark in Irish later life care facilities and has been recognised as such by the plaudits received from both Client and Awards received.
With an emphasis on the therapeutic value of a homelike environment, the design seeks to create the ambience of home rather than an institution, with natural colours, good daylight and extensive views to the outside.
Natural light is an essential element in senior living environments. Roof lights and secondary glazing between the day rooms maximise views and daylight to ensure the sitting spaces are welcoming.
