Reddy architecture were appointed by UCD to provide Fit Out Design services not only for the 914 residential student units which included Main Amenity Hub Building which services these apartments known now as UCD Village. The brief was to divide up this 7500sqm into a variety of multifunctional and permeable spaces that support the best possible student social, study and active life experience. A space that would foster a sense of community and integration within the local area. This resulted in the development of a brief with the client to create a space to house a 300 seater Auditorium/Lecture/ Performance Space, as well as a market style food hall and gallery area,, a Convenience Store, 3no. Retail Units, a Bank, Gym, Dance/Performance Studio’s, and Student Wellness and Contact Centre. With a focus on providing amenity for students, the scheme houses expansive seated and study spaces and defined zones of interaction – external play and exercise, bookable spaces, dining and breakout spaces. As a result UCD Village through this brief development process has become a pivotal section of the masterplan, designed to foster integration and connectivity to the main campus and to the existing residences of Merville and Roebuck.
