UCD student housing wins Ireland’s first SHD permission

We are very pleased to have received from An Bord Pleanala planning permission for phases 1 and 2 of our student housing scheme at University College Dublin’s Belfield Campus. This is the first such permission to be granted nationally under the government’s new Strategic Housing Development (SHD) process, designed to accelerate delivery of large-scale strategic housing schemes.

The development will ultimately provide 3,000 bedspaces in seven buildings of between five and ten storeys arranged around courtyards and linked by pedestrian walkways integrating the new buildings with the existing residences and academic buildings on campus. Activity hubs are located at key nodes, providing amenity and study space for residents and creating a living campus community.

The project is due to start in early 2018 with the first phase due for completion in early 2020.
