Paul O’Brien

Paul is an Associate Director based in the Cork Office of Reddy A+U since 2004. Before joining Reddy A+U, Paul worked in the UK at the internationally renowned firm of Broadway Malyan Architects. He has 20+ years of experience designing and delivering various clinical and non-clinical healthcare, commercial and educational buildings both in the UK and Ireland.

Paul is a qualified Architectural Technician and Architect, primarily responsible for design coordination and contract administration of projects, including their delivery through conception to detail design, tender and construction.

Since joining Reddy A+U in 2004, Paul delivered the award-winning Our Lady’s Hospice Palliative Care Extension in Harolds Cross, Dublin (Healthcare Building of the Year 2019). He has also delivered a number of projects for the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin including a new Cataracts Theatre. He has delivered multiple Primary Care Centres across the country with financer and developer Valley Healthcare, working very successfully with multiple contractors to produce a commercially competitive model of care facility for the HSE. He is also responsible for delivery of the Westfield Integrated Care Centre in Ballincollig, Cork, considered a flagship model of integrated care delivery for chronic disease sufferers.

Paul has a particular expertise in the area of Sustainable Design and Decarbonisation with a Graduate Diploma in Building Performance (Energy Efficient Design) from TU Dublin. He plays a key role in the implementation of the HSE Decarbonisation Pathfinder Programme, delivering real world cost optimal solutions that increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in excess of 50% across Hospital campuses.
