CareChoice have been providing Nursing Home care in Ireland since the late nineties and currently (2020) have ten nursing homes in counties Cork, Dublin, Waterford and Meath. Reddy Architecture + Urbanism has been working with CareChoice since 2015 to help them expand and upgrade their facilities in many of these locations. Completed and ongoing projects are in a mix of new-build, extension and refurbishment projects.
At the upper end of the scale are projects such as the 158-bedroom purpose-built facility at Bridge Street in Swords, Co. Dublin. This completed six-storey building is designed to meet all of HIQA’s highest care standards. It is laid out in a radiating wing arrangement with central living and dining spaces overlooking the garden spaces facing south.
We are involved in their healthcare campus on the outskirts of Trim, County Meath where facilities include a primary care centre, nursing home and independent living units. We completed a shell & core fit-out to provide 13 bedrooms in 2019 and construction is due to complete in April 2021 on an extension project comprising 42 bedrooms and an additional 8 bedrooms in refurbishment works.
Another large-scale project, currently at tender stage (May 2020), is for a 135-bedroom nursing home facility on Parnell Road in Dublin. Challenges on this project included the need to design it as a double-fronted building to address planning sensitivities in a Protected Landscape zone.
Other completed or current projects we are involved in are at facilities in Ballynoe, Clonakilty, Macroom & Montenotte (Co. Cork), Castlenock, Marlay, Northern Cross, Blanchardstown, Lucan & Finglas (Co. Dublin) and Dungarvan (Co. Waterford).
