The Southwest Gate Masterplan, Dublin
Our response to the landbank opportunity at this location is a transformative initiative that re imagines the Naas Road’s relationship with its environs, Ballymount and the Park West area of Dublin City.
This 7.93 hectare regeneration area to the west of Dublin forms part of and is a key urban regeneration hub at a prominent location in the City Edge Project.
Our Masterplan vision for Southwest Gate establishes a vibrant, diverse, mixed use quarter of excellent design quality that is attractive to both residents, business owners and visitors. It is a place of distinctive character where people can work and play with a well-defined home environment. It is a neighbourhood that will be resilient, welcoming, safe and healthy. A neighbourhood that will act as a focal point for the regenerated Naas Road.
A total of 87% of the masterplan area received planning permission in 2021 as one of the capitals largest successful applications. The scheme will be delivered in a number of phases and sub-phases.
Southwest Gate will deliver a vibrant mixed use community along a key arterial route into the City. The internal environment of the Masterplan area will provide a sheltered and attractive public realm that create a comfortable microclimate. There is a strong emphasis on minimising the impact of the car within the scheme. Pedestrians and bikes are the priority modes of transportation with strong interconnectivity provided so that the scheme is an integral part of the ‘Proposed City Wide Green Route’ that will connect the city centre to the Black Horse Luas stop through Lansdowne Valley Park and across new Southwest Gate neighbourhood.
