The Challenge
To create a new student accommodation scheme on a brown field city centre site. The development includes the creation of Huguenot Square, a significant new public space at its heart.
The Story
This project has also been a catalyst for the regeneration of the Newmarket area. In particular, the active use of the new ground floor units on Mill Street have helped to enliven the neighbourhood. The refurbishment involved opening the protected structure at No.10 to the public and provides a new vibrant addition to Mill street.
The Outcome
The successful regeneration of Mill Street, along with the renovation of No. 10, has transformed a derelict brownfield site in Dublin 8 into a vibrant new quarter. The introduction of 400 students, along with cafés and retail spaces, has revitalised the area.
