Redevelopment of Central Mental Hospital campus in Dundrum

The Land Development Agency (LDA) has appointed a design team headed by Reddy A+U to progress the redevelopment of the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) campus in Dundrum, Dublin 14. The planned development will consist of newly built homes on the grounds of the CMH and the repurposing of existing CMH buildings.

The LDA was established by the Government with the purpose of unlocking State lands for new homes. In an update on its plans for the Dundrum site, the LDA confirmed its appointment of a design team  featuring a range of Irish and international experts to progress the redevelopment of this 11.5 hectare campus and its reintegration with the Dundrum and Windy Arbour neighbourhoods. It is estimated that in excess of 1,200 new homes will be provided on the site.

In recognition of the scale, challenge and opportunity that this development project presents, the design team headed by Reddy A+ U will be complemented by a range of Irish and international experts including international masterplanning firm Tyréns. The CMH project represents a renewal of the successful partnership forged by Reddy A+U and Tyréns who recently completed the masterplanning of a 61.5 hectare waterfront site for the Port of Cork Company in Cork city.
