The Challenge
Located on Whitaker Square at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, the building is nestled in the heart of the South Docklands. Our brief was to create a space that would inspire workers and clients alike, to innovate and to develop groundbreaking technology.
The Story
Supporting various working styles was integral to the design, with spaces dedicated to focused and collaborative work. Knowledge sharing, and a sense of unity and teamwork was encouraged by maximising the real estate and movement throughout the space.
Existing blinds and glazing were used as a gallery space within the office to express the client’s enthusiasm for tech innovation. A graphic scheme called ’The little museum that could’ shows illustrations of everyday inventions with large text boxes of dismissive comments from famous inventor’s contemporaries.
Reddy Interiors team sought to incorporate salvaged elements in the design to create a unique aesthetic. Two large beams were rescued from the local historical Bolan’s Mill building at Grand Canal Dock. As the beams were strikingly beautiful, we decided to design a space which celebrated the two pieces. The result was a multifunctional space which incorporated three main uses: reception area, hot desk spaces and high-level meeting space.
The Outcome
A strong focus placed on sustainability influenced the choice of finishes and the clever use of existing materials. Flexibility of the salvaged elements combined with bespoke furniture resulted in cost effective solutions and exceeded our client’s expectations.
